Suzuki Institute 2010

Once a year Sarah and Savannah and I spend a week at the Intermountain Suzuki String Institute in Salt Lake. This is a great opportunity for the girls to interact with violinists from all over the world and learn some new things. It's also a great opportunity for me to spend some time with them. Thanks to my cousin Abby and Grandma Karen tending Andrew and Emily, I get some one-on-one time with my big girls. Here is Savannah showing off her perfect posture!
Sarah's technique class practiced balancing marbles on their strings. There were many marbles rolling across the floor, but by the end of the week they were pretty good at it!

My sweet smiling Savannah on T-shirt day. Grandma Jane and I took turns going to classes with each of the girls. She is so great to spend so much time with them, and that is really what makes it so much fun!

Savannah, Aunt Robin, and Sarah showing off their T-shirts.
It is a long day, but we make it fun by going out to lunch with Grandma and Robin, and by working in a little shopping! No, the T-shirts are not what we were shopping for.

On Friday we took Andrew and Emily with us. It was fun for them to see the classes, but I was really glad that we only did that for one day. Another fun thing about Institute is practicing out on the lawn.

Here is Sarah's technique class.

One of Sarah's favorite classes was her Chamber group. It was a quartet with 3 other girls her age, and they were all darling. It was so good for her to play fun music with a fun group.
For the performance all 4 girls wore fancy hats, and for one song they played with tiny bows. Their teacher was awesome, and it was a really great experience.

Overall, we had another great year at Institute. It reminds us all why we work so hard, and it makes me want to be a better violin mom.
